Milestone in the development of Solent Airport
The business hangars are within the Solent Enterprise Zone at Lee-on-the Solent. They overlook the historic Daedalus airfield and are sub-divided in to six units. The hangars help realise the vision for Daedalus which focusses on local economic growth through advanced manufacturing within the marine, aviation and aerospace sectors. The new hangars assist in relocating successful existing businesses from First World War hangars elsewhere on the site. The latter will then be converted to new uses better suited to their fragile condition.

Expanding the airport's capabilities
Our appointment extended from initial designs, through planning and on to completion of the hangars on site. With a relatively simple layout and structural solution the architectural quality of the proposal is conveyed through the sinuous form and distinguished external finish, particularly on the air side. Large display windows showcase the aircrafts within, while large, illuminated signs and letters act as key features on approaches.
